The Leib­niz-Insti­tut für Kris­tall­züch­tung (IKZ) is a lea­ding rese­arch insti­tu­tion in the area of sci­ence & tech­no­logy as well as ser­vice & trans­fer of crystal­line mate­ri­als. Topic: "SiGe-based hete­ro­st­ruc­tures for quan­tum tech­no­lo­gies”

Working field:

SiGe-based hete­ro­st­ruc­tures con­sti­tute the most pro­mi­sing plat­form for emer­ging quan­tum tech­no­lo­gies, such as quan­tum com­pu­ting and simu­la­tion. Group IV semi­con­duc­tors con­vince with their com­pa­ti­bi­lity with semi­con­duc­tor indus­try and their poten­tial to be employed as spin­neu­tral envi­ron­ments by uti­li­zing iso­to­pi­cally enri­ched Si and Ge. As a mem­ber of our group, you will grow such hete­ro­st­ruc­tures from iso­to­pi­cally enri­ched mate­rial by state-of-the-art mole­cu­lar beam epi­taxy, pro­fit from our inter­di­sci­pli­nary inter­na­tio­nal col­la­bo­ra­ti­ons, and modern mate­ri­als sci­ence cha­rac­te­ri­za­tion. We are loo­king for a can­di­date with strong com­mu­ni­ca­tion skills, the asser­tiveness to work in an inter­na­tio­nally posi­tio­ned insti­tute, wil­ling to for­mu­late their own sci­en­ti­fic ideas.

Requirements:

  • Mas­ter’s degree in phy­sics, che­mi­stry, mate­ri­als sci­ence or rela­ted fields
  • Know­ledge of semi­con­duc­tor mate­ri­als, devices, epi­ta­xial growth, in par­ti­cu­lar MBE, and thin film cha­rac­te­ri­za­tion
  • Moti­va­tion and capa­bi­lity to do sci­en­ti­fic work, as well as its docu­men­ta­tion and pre­sen­ta­tion
  • Pro­fi­ci­ency in spo­ken and writ­ten Eng­lish is necessary, Ger­man skills are appre­cia­ted

What we offer:

The posi­tion is limi­ted to three years. Pay­ment is accord­ing to TVöD-Bund (75%) (Treaty for Ger­man public ser­vice). Among equally qua­li­fied app­li­cants, pre­fe­rence will be given to dis­ab­led can­di­da­tes.
