The TU Dres­den is one of ele­ven Ger­man uni­ver­si­ties that were iden­ti­fied as an “excel­lence uni­ver­sity”. TUD has about 36.500 stu­dents and almost 5319 employees, 507 pro­fes­sors among them, and, thus, is the lar­gest uni­ver­sity in Sax­ony, today.

Having been com­mit­ted to sci­en­ces and the engi­nee­ring before the reuni­fi­ca­tion of Ger­many, TU Dres­den now is a multi-disci­pline uni­ver­sity, also offe­ring huma­nities and social sci­en­ces as well as medi­cine.

At TU Dresden, Fac­ulty of Elec­trical and Com­puter Engin­eer­ing, Insti­tute of Auto­ma­tion the Chair of Pro­cess Con­trol Sys­tems offers a pos­i­tion as

Research Asso­ci­ate (m/f/x)
(sub­ject to per­sonal qual­i­fic­a­tion, employ­ees are remu­ner­ated accord­ing to salary group E 13 TV-L)

start­ing as soon as pos­sible. The pos­i­tion is within the research pro­jects KEEN – “AI incub­ator labs in the pro­cess industry” and lim­ited until March 31, 2023. The period of employ­ment is gov­erned by the Fixed Term Research Con­tracts Act (Wis­senschaft­szeitver­trags­ge­setz - Wis­sZeitVG). The pos­i­tion offers the chance to obtain fur­ther aca­demic qual­i­fic­a­tion.

Working field:

  • devel­op­ment of a AI-based expert sys­tem for chem­ical indus­trial plants
  • devel­op­ment of an inform­a­tion model for descrip­tion metadata of pro­cess val­ues in mod­u­lar auto­ma­tion
  • coordin­a­tion of research res­ults with pro­ject part­ners from industry and aca­demia
  • pub­lic­a­tion of research res­ults at inter­na­tional con­fer­ences and in recog­nized sci­entific journ­als

Requirements:

  • above aver­age uni­versity degree in the field of com­puter sci­ence, inform­a­tion sys­tems engin­eer­ing, elec­trical engin­eer­ing, pro­cess inform­at­ics or related fields
  • good pro­gram­ming skills in com­mon lan­guages (e.g. Python)
  • solid know­ledge in inform­a­tion mod­el­ing (e.g. UML, RDF)
  • inde­pend­ent, goal- and solu­tion-ori­ented way of work­ing
  • flu­ent Eng­lish and Ger­man, both writ­ten and spoken
  • exper­i­ence with Linked Data con­cepts bene­fi­cial
