The objective of the collaborative project is to reduce methane emissions from manure storage by the addition of calcium cyanamide while maintaining and reactivating the methane potential for subsequent biogas production and increasing the fertilizer quality of the remaining digestates. The successful applicant will investigate the microbiome structure and dynamic variations across the entire process chain comprising liquid manure storage, biogas production and field application of manure and digestate. The position is assigned to the research group “System microbiology” in close cooperation with the research groups “Bioengineering” and “Bioeconomic system modelling” at ATB and the external partner Alzchem Trostberg GmbH.
