Neo­Car­bon - Cli­mate Tech

Neo­Car­bon is rever­sing cli­mate change and lea­ding the tran­si­tion to a car­bon-nega­tive world through CO₂ remo­val.

We use exis­ting infra­st­ruc­ture in the form of coo­ling towers to per­form Direct-Air-Cap­ture (DAC) at up to 10x lower costs and time, which makes DAC mass-mar­ket ready. Indeed, mil­li­ons of exis­ting coo­ling towers around Europe con­ti­nuously cir­cu­late mas­sive amounts of air to remove heat from indus­trial plants and buil­dings. By effi­ci­ently retro­fit­ting those towers, we remove the car­bon dioxide from all this air at very low addi­tio­nal cost. Several bil­lion tons of CO2 could be cap­tu­red this way annu­ally, a huge share of huma­nity’s long-term needs.

Che­mi­cal Engi­nee­ring Intern

You will be working at an early-stage start-up that aims to tackle one of huma­nity’s big­gest chal­len­ges: rever­sing cli­mate change. As a Che­mi­cal Engi­nee­ring Intern or The­sis Stu­dent, you will be part of Neo­Car­bon’s pro­duct team, working clo­sely with our Head of R&D Andrew and our CTO Sil­vain. In prac­tice, you will assist in the design and vali­da­tion of our car­bon cap­ture pro­ces­ses both through simu­la­ti­ons and lab expe­ri­ments.

Working field:

  • Assist in pro­cess design and simu­la­tion for our cur­rent and futures car­bon cap­ture sys­tem, based on spe­ci­fi­ca­ti­ons deve­lo­ped with the core pro­duct team
  • Help tes­ting pro­to­ty­pes and early pro­duct ver­si­ons
  • Sup­port labo­ra­tory ope­ra­ti­ons and expe­ri­ments
  • Vali­date inter­nal models used to esti­mate car­bon cap­ture and pro­cess effi­ci­en­cies


  • Stu­dent in Che­mi­cal or Petro­leum Engi­nee­ring (or rela­ted disci­pli­nes)
  • Some expe­ri­ence with che­mi­cal flow pro­ces­ses and rela­ted equip­ment
  • Under­stan­ding of che­mi­cal engi­nee­ring fun­da­men­tals, for example, vapor/liquid equi­li­bria, reac­tion kine­tics, and heat and mass trans­fer
  • Inte­rest in instal­ling and main­tai­ning lab equip­ment
  • Avai­la­bi­lity for 3-6 month
  • Pas­sio­nate about cli­mate and sustai­na­bi­lity
  • Abi­lity to use the Aspen­Tech suite or simi­lar pro­cess mode­ling tools (COM­SOL, Mode­lica, …) would be nice to have
  • Expe­ri­ence with Direct Air Cap­ture pro­ces­ses and/or simu­la­ti­ons would be nice to have
