Max Planck Insti­tute for Human Deve­lop­ment - Cent­ral IT

The Max Planck Insti­tute for Human Devel­op­ment is ded­ic­ated to the study of human devel­op­ment and edu­ca­tion, as well as human-machine inter­ac­tion. Research­ers of vari­ous dis­cip­lines – includ­ing psy­cho­logy, edu­ca­tion, soci­ology, medi­cine, his­tory, eco­nom­ics, com­puter sci­ence, and math­em­at­ics – work together on inter­dis­cip­lin­ary pro­jects at the Ber­lin Insti­tute. The research ques­tions they exam­ine include how people make effect­ive decisions even under time pres­sure and inform­a­tion over­load, how the inter­ac­tion between beha­viour and brain func­tion changes over the lifespan, as well as how human emo­tions change in a his­tor­ical con­text and how they have affected the course of his­tory itself and what social innov­a­tions and chal­lenges come with digit­al­iz­a­tion.

IT Stu­dent Assist­ant (Pro­gram­mer)

Working field:

The Cent­ral IT at the Max Planck Insti­tute for Human Devel­op­ment in Ber­lin seeks applic­ants for a

IT stu­dent assist­ants (Pro­gram­mer) (f/m/d)

16 hours/week in Ber­lin or remote.
The pos­i­tion is lim­ited to 12 months with the pos­sib­il­ity of an exten­sion.

The Cent­ral IT at the Max Planck insti­tute for Human Devel­op­ment is going through a mod­ern­iz­a­tion pro­cess includ­ing mul­tiple excit­ing pro­jects and many pro­gram­ming tasks.

About the job

The ideal can­did­ate will help us auto­mate busi­ness work­flows using Jira Ser­vice Man­age­ment, or build pro­gram­mable inter­faces between the hard­ware invent­ory sys­tem and the mobile device man­age­ment sys­tem, or will help us auto­mate the cre­ation of DNS records using infra­struc­ture as code. Fur­ther­more, you will help with the day-to-day tasks like pack­aging the vari­ous soft­ware into the mobile device man­age­ment. This job can be fully remote or in per­son.

Requirements:

  • Enrolled in a Bach­elor's or Mas­ter's pro­gram at a Ger­man uni­versity (ideally com­puter sci­ence or related field).
  • Strong gen­eral tech­nical found­a­tion and will­ing­ness to learn new tech­no­lo­gies.
  • Pro­gram­ming fun­da­ment­als: Power­Shell, Bash, Python, Typescript, Git, Azure, Win­dows or MacOS fun­da­ment­als.
  • Exper­i­ence in pro­gram­ming, for example Java, Python or JavaS­cript.
  • First-hand exper­i­ence in Web devel­op­ment (JS, HTML, CSS, HTTP).
  • Exper­i­ence in Bash script­ing or Power­Shell is a plus.
  • First-hand exper­i­ence or will­ing­ness to learn cloud tech­no­lo­gies like Azure and Kuber­netes.
