We are a start-up developing new methods for decoding human brain activity using recent advances in machine learning. As always in machine learning, data is the starting point. We are collecting EEG data to train a machine learning model to decode perception and cognition from EEG data. For example, we collect EEG data while participants are reading text or viewing images.

Working student EEG data collection

English

nubrain is looking for a working student to help us with EEG data collection

Tasks:

  • Run EEG data collection. Specifically: Recruit participants, schedule sessions, instruct participants on the task, place the EEG device on the participants' head, make sure participants are comfortable and complete the task as instructed, handle participant compensation.
  • 20 hours per week, mostly on-site at The Delta Campus in Neukölln (Donaustraße 44, 12043 Berlin). Mostly on-site because the EEG measurements take place here.
  • Running neuroscience experiments with human participants (whether at a research lab or at a company) is mostly about communication - finding participants, scheduling sessions, explaining the task, etc. This job is not theoretical, but very hands-on lab work - so please only apply if you're comfortable handling a lot of communication :)

Requirements:

  • Student (BSc or MSc) of psychology, cognitive sciences, neuroscience with an interest in empirical data collection / EEG
  • Ability to work independently, good communicator
  • Initially for three months (April - June 2026), option to prolong

Nice to have

  • Prior experience organising experiments (recruiting and instructing participants)
  • Prior experience with EEG

What we offer:

  • Hands-on experience at an early-stage start-up working at the intersection of neuroscience and machine learning.
  • Flexible working hours. You can set your own schedule. As long as you can recruit participants, it doesn't matter what time of day / day of week the sessions take place.
  • Competitive working student compensation (EUR 20 / hour).
