Das BCRT wurde 2006 als Alli­anz der Cha­rité-Uni­ver­si­täts­me­di­zin Ber­lin und der Helm­holtz-Gemein­schaft gegrün­det. Mehr als 250 Mit­ar­bei­ter – Ärzte, Natur­wis­sen­schaft­ler, Trans­la­ti­ons­ex­per­ten, Inge­nieure, Dok­to­ran­den und tech­ni­sche Mit­ar­bei­ter – for­schen und arbei­ten an den zwei Stand­or­ten des BCRT: am Insti­tuts­ge­bäude Süd des Cam­pus Vir­chow-Kli­ni­kum der Cha­rité und am Cam­pus Tel­tow des Insti­tuts für Bio­ma­te­ri­al­for­schung der Helm­holtz-Zen­trums Geest­hacht GmbH.


Modu­lar soft­ware deve­lop­ment for scan­ning acou­stic micro­scopy


DESCRIP­TION: Scan­ning Acou­stic Micro­scopy (SAM) is a power­ful mea­su­re­ment tech­ni­que to mea­sure struc­tu­ral and elas­tic pro­per­ties of both tech­ni­cal and bio­lo­gi­cal mate­ri­als. Your lab has deve­lo­ped several custom SAM ope­ra­tion with fre­quen­cies bet­ween a few mega­hertz up to 2 GHz.

The pro­ject aims at the deve­lop­ment of a new gene­ra­tion of a 200-MHz SAM. Based on the exis­ting hard- and soft­ware, the fol­lo­wing goals shall be achie­ved:

  • Upgrade of the exis­ting the C++ code to incor­po­rate new hard­ware
  • Deve­lop­ment of a MAT­LAB tool­box for the modu­lar con­trol of various hard­ware com­po­n­ents (pre­ci­sion motor con­trol­ler, arbi­trary func­tion gene­ra­tor, A/D-card, oscil­lo­scope)
  • Deve­lop­ment of a func­tion library for the con­duc­tion of sta­ble stan­dard scan rou­ti­nes inclu­ding real-time data visua­liza­t­ion
  • Deve­lop­ment of a user-fri­endly inter­face with inte­gra­tion of stan­dard func­tio­na­lity
  • Rea­liza­t­ion of a frame­work for cust­o­miz­able batch ope­ra­ti­ons
  • Deve­lop­ment of a frame­work for the trans­la­tion of MAT­LAB-to C++ code

Er­war­te­te Qua­li­fi­ka­tio­nen:

We are loo­king for can­di­da­tes with pro­found skills in pro­gramming (Mat­lab, C++) with a focus on hard­ware con­trol.
App­li­cants should have:
  • a very good back­ground in com­pu­ter sci­ence, electri­cal engi­nee­ring (or equi­va­lent),
  • pro­found pro­gramming skills (MAT­LAB, C++),
  • very good Eng­lish and com­mu­ni­ca­tion skills.
