Research Associate / PhD Position
in the field: Neurocognitive Development & Clinical Neuropsychology
(Subject to personal qualification employees are remunerated according to salary group E 13 TV-L)
The position is starting on February 1, 2019. The position entails 65% of the fulltime weekly hours and is fixed- term for 3 years until 31.01.2022. The period of employment is governed by § 2 (2) Fixed Term Research Contracts Act (Wissenschaftszeitvertragsgesetz – WissZeitVG). The position offers the chance to obtain further academic qualification (e.g. PhD).
The successful applicant will work together with Prof. Shu-Chen Li, Prof. Dr. med. Alexander Münchau, Prof. Dr. Christian Beste and other members of the research team in the DFG-funded research group “Cognitive theory for Tourette syndrome – a novel perspective”. The aim of the project is to understand neurocognitive developmental processes underlying Tourette-syndrome. The position will be based in Chair of Lifespan Developmental Neuroscience at TU Dresden.
The project is a collaboration between the Chair of Lifespan Developmental Neuroscience, the Paediatric and Adult Movement Disorders and Neuropsychiatry Group at the University of Lübeck and the Department of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry and Psychotherapy at the Carl Gustav Carus University Hospital at TU Dresden. By conducting behavioral experiments and measuring electroencephalography (EEG) during cognitive tasks in children and adolescence with vs. without Tourette-syndrome, the project aims to compare atypical with typical development to understand neurocognitive dysfunctions of Tourette-syndrome.

Candidates with experience in EEG, computer programming skills (e.g., MATLAB) and proficiency in English and German languages are particularly encouraged to apply.
What we offer:
The Faculty of Psychology supports multidisciplinary research with ample opportunities for training and collaboration. The faculty is involved in DFG funded Collaborative Research Center and Excellence Cluster. The Chair of Lifespan Developmental Neuroscience has electroencephalography (EEG) systems with EEG cabin, behavioral testing rooms as well as access to a research-dedicated 3T MRI scanner, transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) and direct current stimulation (tDCS) systems through the university’s neural imaging center.
