The Bundes­an­stalt für Mater­i­alforschung und -prü­fung (BAM) is a mater­i­als research organ­iz­a­tion in Ger­many. Our mis­sion is to ensure safety in tech­no­logy and chem­istry.

Stu­dent Assist­ant 80 h/month

Sim­u­la­tion and exper­i­mental work

Work­ing field:

— Assist­ance in the pre­par­a­tion and exe­cu­tion of exper­i­ments in the high-power laser beam weld­ing
with external mag­netic field
— Assist­ance in the related multi-phys­ical sim­u­la­tion works (CFD and MHD)
— Visu­al­iz­a­tion, eval­u­ation and ana­lysis of the res­ults
— Lit­er­at­ure research on cur­rent top­ics in weld­ing tech­no­logy


Your qual­i­fic­a­tions:
— Study exper­i­ence of sev­eral semesters in the fields of Phys­ical Engin­eer­ing, Mech­an­ical
Engin­eer­ing, Mater­ial sci­ence or com­par­able
— Very good basic know­ledge in fluid mech­an­ics. Know­ledge in mag­neto­hydro­dynamic will be an
— Exper­i­ence in the mod­el­ling and sim­u­la­tion of phys­ical phe­nom­ena with the finite volume method
(FVM) or finite ele­ment method (FEM)
— Pro­gram­ming skill (C lan­guage, Python or MAT­LAB) is an advant­age
