At the Department of Hydro Sciences, Institute of Hydrobiology the Chair of Limnology offers, subject to resources being available, within the framework of a BMBF project a fixed-term project position. It starts at the earliest possible date and is initially limited until the end of the project, the 31.01.2023. The period of employment is governed by § 2 (2) Fixed Term Research Contracts Act (Wissenschaftszeitvertragsgesetz - WissZeitVG).
The project focuses on the question of biodiversity against the distribution of antibiotic resistance in the environment. The connection between the biodiversity and antibiotic resisted genes and bacteria with influences on the health of human, animal and environment needs to analyse. It is to determine if urbanisation, intensified agriculture and the global warming affects the development of antibiotic resistances. The aim is to prove if biological diversity is an ecological barrier for the spreading of antibiotic resistances.
university degree and PhD in biology, hydrology, medicine or similar fields. The candidate should be well acquainted with molecular and microbiological techniques, in particular with realtime PCR, digital PCR, plasmid analysis and genetic modifications of microorganisms; strong publication record; motivation to perform independent research and the ability to coordinate the scientific efforts within the project with little external supervision; ability to think innovatively and to work as an active member of a team; very good command of German and English for publishing high-quality research. Familiarity with modelling approaches capabilities would be a great plus.
