Junior Pro­fess­or­ship for „Teach­ing Eng­lish as a for­eign Lan­guage / Didactics”

Work­ing field:

The pro­fess­or­ship will be posi­tioned in the field of Eng­lish Lan­guage Edu­ca­tion / Didactics (Fach­didak­tik Eng­lisch) and should rep­res­ent a pro­file includ­ing one or more of the fields of “Inclus­ive Edu­ca­tion and Sus­tain­able Devel­op­ment” and “Mul­ti­lin­gual­ism and Pluri­lit­er­acy”. Suc­cess­ful can­did­ates have vis­ible exper­i­ence in basic or classroom research.

Cur­riculum courses are to be offered in the BA Eng­lish as well as the Mas­ter of Edu­ca­tion Eng­lish pro­grams. This includes tutor­ing stu­dents dur­ing their school intern­ship. The appointee is expec­ted to act­ively par­ti­cip­ate in aca­demic self-admin­is­tra­tion.


Can­did­ates must have a required min­imum exper­i­ence in school and uni­versity teach­ing. In this case, this implies at least three years’ teach­ing prac­tice at schools. We are look­ing for a per­son with exper­i­ence in inter­dis­cip­lin­ary cooper­a­tion, an eager­ness to become act­ively involved in and accept respons­ib­il­ity to con­trib­ute to exist­ing net­works and col­lab­or­a­tions within the depart­ment and bey­ond (e.g. Lang­scape). Can­did­ates will be expec­ted to develop research pro­jects for third-party fund­ing.
Very good Ger­man lan­guage pro­fi­ciency will be expec­ted.
The applic­ants must meet the legal require­ments for pro­fess­or­ial appoint­ments in accord­ance with § 102a of ’Ber­liner Hoch­schul­ge­setz’.
