IFW Dresden e.V. - Leibniz-Institute for Solid State and Materials Research Dresden

The Leibniz Institute for Solid State and Materials Research Dresden (IFW Dresden) is a non-university research institute and a member of the Leibniz Association. The IFW employs approximately 600 people and one focus is on the training of young scientists besides enhancing fundamental and ap-plied research development. At the highest international level, the IFW operates modern materials science on a scientific basis and makes the obtained results useful for the economy. The complex and interdisciplinary research work is carried out within the IFW by five scientific institutes, which are supported by a highly developed technical infrastructure. The IFW supports its employees in reconcil-ing work and family life and regularly submits to the berufundfamilie® audit.

The IFW announces the opening for a Post Doc position in the Institute for Theoretical Solid State Physics starting 01.08.2020 in full-time (part-time is also possible) limited to 24 months.

Working field:

Target areas include (but are not limited to) researching in “Wave-function-based ab initio computa-tional methods, employed for modelling the electronic structure of lacunar spinel and possibly related systems”.

The successful candidate (m/f/d) should have a Master’s degree or Diploma in theoretical physics or theoretical chemistry and has a doctorate, as well as high motivation and good English skills. We expect a strong background in electronic-structure computational methods, and in solid state phys-ics. We require experience with wave-function-based calculations and the computation of spectro-scopic properties.

What we offer:
