Posi­tion 1 – Crop Sci­en­tist / Posi­tion 2 – Agri­cul­tu­ral Eco­no­mist

Work­ing field:

Posi­tion 1 – Crop Sci­en­tist
Your tasks:
  • Data collec­tion on cur­rent and diver­si­fied pro­duc­tion sys­tems in the case stu­dies.
  • Assess eco­lo­gi­cal and agro-eco­no­mic impacts of novel highly diver­si­fied sys­tems.
  • Apply a crop­ping sys­tem assess­ment frame­work and sup­port field expe­ri­ments.
  • Ana­lyse yield sta­bi­lity to inves­ti­gate the resi­li­ence of diver­si­fied crop­ping sys­tems.
  • Inte­grate eco­no­mic and eco­sys­tem ser­vice assess­ments to ana­lyse policy opti­ons sup­por­ting diver­si­fied agri­cul­tu­ral sys­tems.
  • Report on eco­lo­gi­cal and agro-eco­no­mic effects of diver­si­fied crop­ping sys­tems.
  • Publi­ca­tion of results in sci­en­ti­fic jour­nals.

Posi­tion 2 – Agri­cul­tu­ral Eco­no­mist
Your tasks:
  • Data collec­tion on farm struc­tures and pro­duc­tion sys­tems in the case stu­dies.
  • Apply a farm model for typi­cal farms of case study regi­ons to assess the com­pe­ti­tiveness of Medi­ter­ra­nean agri­cul­ture.
  • Deve­lop policy sce­n­a­rios in a par­ti­ci­patory approach and examine these sce­n­a­rios by the bio-eco­no­mic model­ling approach.
  • Inte­grate eco­no­mic and eco­sys­tem ser­vice assess­ments to ana­lyse policy opti­ons sup­por­ting diver­si­fied agri­cul­tu­ral sys­tems.
  • Pre­sen­ta­tion and dis­cus­sion of results with local sta­ke­hol­ders.
  • Publi­ca­tion of results in sci­en­ti­fic jour­nals.

Require­ments:

Your qual­i­fic­a­tions:
  • MSc (or close to be fin­ished) in crop sci­ences (pos. 1) or in agri­cul­tural eco­nom­ics (pos. 2) (or sim­ilar qual­i­fic­a­tions)
  • Very good com­mu­nic­a­tion skills (incl. Eng­lish)
  • A high cap­ab­il­ity in self-man­age­ment & very good team­work skills
  • Will­ing­ness to travel in the Medi­ter­ranean Advant­age­ous
  • Exper­i­ence in the eval­u­ation of crop­ping sys­tems, stat­ist­ical ana­lysis and data col­lec­tion (pos. 1)
  • Exper­i­ence in farm level sur­veys, data man­age­ment and eco­nomic mod­el­ling tools (pos. 2)
  • Lan­guage skills in one Medi­ter­ranean lan­guage e.g. French
