Intern for Elia Group Depart­ment “Sys­tem of the future” (Future Energy Busi­ness) (f/m/d)

Take part as an intern in the Elia Group func­tion “Sys­tem of the Future” in sha­ping the energy sys­tem bey­ond 2030 in a proac­tive think tank.

Work­ing field:

  • Pro­found rese­arch of poli­ti­cal action plans and new tech­no­lo­gies for the future energy sys­tem such as European Green Deal, off­shore grids, sec­tor cou­pling (focus on PtX), etc.,
  • Con­tri­bute to our off­shore mar­ket intel­li­gence with sys­te­ma­tic mar­ket scree­ning,
  • Sup­port in off­shore pro­ject idea­tion and deve­lop­ment pro­cess with empha­sis on inno­va­tive sys­tem lay­outs, such as multi-pur­pose-inter­con­nec­tors, hybrid assets, off­shore hubs and energy islands,
  • Chance to per­form small simu­la­ti­ons and quick data ana­ly­sis on real energy sys­tem and mar­ket data sets,
  • Sup­port on the eva­lua­tion of off­shore pro­jects for tech­ni­cal and eco­no­mic fea­si­bi­lity with help of selec­ted per­for­mance indi­ca­tors, evol­ved cost bene­fit metho­do­logy and latest sce­n­a­rio assump­ti­ons,
  • Sup­port in desi­gning new con­cepts for off­shore grids and / or inte­gra­ted sys­tem model­ling (focus inter­linkage elec­tri­city/ gas) and dis­cuss these with Busi­ness Stra­tegy, Plan­ning, EU Affairs and Mar­kets depart­ments,
  • Fina­lise reports and draft out­stan­ding sli­des as pre­pa­ra­tion for work­shops / mee­tings.

Require­ments:

We expect that you…
  • Are pur­suing your mas­ter's degree in Busi­ness Admi­nis­tra­tion, Engi­nee­ring or Eco­no­mics or Poli­cies or Entre­pre­neurship with a focus on energy sys­tems
  • Have pas­sion for energy tran­si­tion (power sys­tems and/or energy mar­kets),
  • Are crea­tive, inno­va­tive, proac­tive and result dri­ven; ana­ly­ti­cal and abs­tract rea­so­ning,
  • Have very good know­ledge of MS Office app­li­ca­ti­ons,
  • Have very good Eng­lish skills and good know­ledge of spo­ken and writ­ten Ger­man.

Know­ledge of mar­ket model­ling soft­ware (e.g. GAMS / ANT­ARES) or data sci­ence (e.g. Mat­lab/ R/ Python) make your app­li­ca­tion par­ti­cu­larly inte­res­ting for us and know­ledge of Dutch or French is an asset.
