The TU Dres­den is one of ele­ven Ger­man uni­ver­si­ties that were iden­ti­fied as an “excel­lence uni­ver­sity”. TUD has about 36.500 stu­dents and almost 5319 employees, 507 pro­fes­sors among them, and, thus, is the lar­gest uni­ver­sity in Sax­ony, today.

Having been com­mit­ted to sci­en­ces and the engi­nee­ring before the reuni­fi­ca­tion of Ger­many, TU Dres­den now is a multi-disci­pline uni­ver­sity, also offe­ring huma­nities and social sci­en­ces as well as medi­cine.

Rese­arch Asso­ciate

At the Insti­tute of Pro­cess Engi­nee­ring and Envi­ron­men­tal Tech­no­logy the Pro­cess Sys­tems Engi­nee­ring Group offers, sub­ject to the avai­la­bi­lity of resour­ces, a posi­tion as
Rese­arch Asso­ciate
(sub­ject to per­so­nal qua­li­fi­ca­tion, employees are remu­ne­ra­ted accord­ing to salary group E 13 TV-L)
with the ear­liest begin on Sep­tem­ber 1, 2021. The posi­tion is wit­hin the rese­arch pro­jects eMo­dule – “Model­ling, Auto­ma­tion, Inte­gra­tion and Opti­mi­za­tion of modu­lar Elec­tro­ly­sis-Plants” and KEEN – “AI incu­ba­tor labs in the pro­cess indus­try” and limi­ted in its dura­tion until March 31, 2023. The period of employ­ment is gover­ned by the Fixed Term Rese­arch Con­tracts Act (Wis­sen­schafts­zeit­ver­trags­ge­setz - WissZeitVG). The posi­tion offers the chance to obtain fur­ther aca­de­mic qua­li­fi­ca­tion.

Work­ing field:

  • data ana­ly­sis and app­li­ca­tion of selec­ted AI algo­rithms to spe­ci­fic pro­blems from the pro­cess indus­try as well as the eva­lua­tion of the sui­ta­bi­lity and per­for­mance of AI methods;
  • sup­port in data-dri­ven and hybrid model­ling of pro­cess units wit­hin a water elec­tro­ly­sis plant as well as con­duc­ting simu­la­tion stu­dies.

Require­ments:

  • above-average uni­ver­sity degree in one of the fol­lo­wing fields: pro­cess engi­nee­ring, com­pu­ter sci­ence, che­mi­cal engi­nee­ring, rege­ne­ra­tive energy sys­tems, hydro­gen energy sys­tems, hydro­gen tech­no­lo­gies or rela­ted;
  • enthu­si­asm for new chal­len­ges in the field of machine lear­ning as well as modu­la­ri­za­tion and digi­ta­li­za­tion in the pro­cess indus­try and espe­ci­ally for app­li­ca­tion in the field of green hydro­gen;
  • inde­pen­dent, goal- and solu­tion-ori­en­ted way of working;
  • flu­ent Eng­lish and Ger­man, both writ­ten and spo­ken;
  • expe­ri­ence in the app­li­ca­tion of ML methods, model­ling and simu­la­tion of pro­duc­tion pro­ces­ses is advan­ta­ge­ous.
