The main goal of the “Imaging, Simulation & Stimulation“ laboratory is to combine state-of-the-art quantitative imaging with numerical modelling to assess the biomechanical competence of musculoskeletal tissues under normal, pathological, and healing conditions and to utilize the elastic interaction of waves with matter to stimulate healing. The working group "Imaging, Simulation & Stimulation" is headed by Prof. Kay Raum.
The spin-off poroUS GmbH was founded in 2021 with the goal of commercialising a product that will revolutionize osteoporosis diagnostics worldwide. By using quantitative ultrasound imaging of bone (QUSIB), poroUS is able to measure the quality of cortical bone down to the microscopic pore level without ionizing radiation risks. At the beginning you will join the research group of the Charité and transition into the start-up in the near future.
COMPUTER ENGINEER (C++)
C++. Matlab, SQL, parallel & CUDA, hardware and signal processing programming for medical ultrasound technologies
We are looking for a highly skilled Computer Engineer who is comfortable with writing C++. Matlab code, created for research purposes, needs to be improved and rewritten into professional C++ code. The code must be converted into object-oriented structures and the processes need to be parallelized or transferred to a GPU processing.
Other topics are the implementation of a new ultrasound measurement methods, hardware programming, optimization of data acquisition, real-time image reconstruction, data processing by parallel and GPU supported methods and cloud-based data analysis.

Completed university degree in the field of information technology/computer science (or another comparable discipline in combination with comprehensive knowledge of computer science)
Proven working experience in software engineering
Comprehensive programming knowledge in high-level languages (preferably C/C++) on Linux und Windows platforms
Experience in the use of RAD tools such as MATLAB
Proven experience in embedded systems design with real-time applications
Proficiency with Git
Appreciation for clean and well documented code
Experience implementing testing platforms and unit tests
