Chair (W2) of Didactics of Bio­logy

Working field:

You will rep­res­ent the field of Didactics of Bio­logy in research and teach­ing. You will play a key role in estab­lish­ing and shap­ing the con­tent of the new bio­logy teacher train­ing study pro­gram and will be respons­ible for the bio­logy didactic com­pon­ents of the train­ing (in Ger­man) in the teacher train­ing study pro­gram for teach­ers at gram­mar schools, sec­ond­ary schools and voca­tional schools, as well as for their ongo­ing devel­op­ment. Your future tasks will include the devel­op­ment of your own focus in a cur­rent area of bio­logy didactics research as well as par­ti­cip­a­tion in the con­tinu­ing edu­ca­tion and train­ing of bio­logy teach­ers and lat­eral career movers. Close cooper­a­tion with the Cen­ter for Teacher Edu­ca­tion and Edu­ca­tional Research (ZLSB) is required. Your will­ing­ness to act­ively par­ti­cip­ate in aca­demic self-admin­is­tra­tion is a pre­requis­ite.


We are seek­ing an indi­vidual who has demon­strated excel­lence in a cur­rent area of research in the didactics of bio­logy through an out­stand­ing PhD degree, pub­lic­a­tion activ­ity, prac­tical school exper­i­ence, and ped­ago­gical aptitude. We expect you to be will­ing and able to acquire third-party fun­ded pro­jects, to super­vise PhD stu­dents, and to cooper­ate on an inter­dis­cip­lin­ary basis. Applic­ants must ful­fil the employ­ment qual­i­fic­a­tion require­ments of § 58 of the Act on the Autonomy of Insti­tu­tions of Higher Edu­ca­tion in the Free State of Sax­ony (Säch­sHSFG).
