Technische Universität Berlin - Faculty IV - Institute of Software Engineering and Theoretical Computer Science - FG Machine Learning
Research Assistant - salary grade E13 TV-L Berliner Hochschulen
part-time employment may be possible
The Berlin Institute for the Foundations of Learning and Data (BIFOLD) at TU Berlin is looking for a research assistant for a sub-project of the BZML under the direction of Prof. Dr. Klaus-Robert Müller.
Research in the field of machine learning (ML); development of novel learning mechanisms and methods, that result in image representations that are both more robust and better generalize to out-of-distribution data compared to previous methods, in particular in low-resource domains in the area of medicine such as oncology where the distribution of classes often is non-uniform; design and optimization of variational methods that aim to compress continuous latent representations into interpretable coordinate spaces; software implementation in all these areas; PhD thesis preparation is possible.
Successfully completed university degree (Master, Diplom or equivalent) in Computer Science, Physics, Engineering, Applied Mathematics or a related field
Profound knowledge in linear algebra, statistics, and machine learning, in particular neural networks, deep generative models, matrix factorization and interpretability methods as well as variational inference
Practical experience with developing and applying machine learning algorithms
Solid programming skills, in particular experience with ML, bash scripting and linear algebra frameworks (PyTorch, TensorFlow, NumPy, JAX, etc.)
Excellent communication skills in German and English
