Working field:

The chosen candidate will have the opportunity to work in a multidisciplinary and international team at the Department of Health Care Management. The department's research focuses on health systems, health services research, health economics, health technology assessment, and global health. The department is closely connected to international organisations as well as academic and industrial partners in Germany, Europe and beyond. Pursuing a PhD is also possible.

The goal of the PROMchronic project, coordinated by the department, is to use patient-centred instruments including Patient-Reported Outcome Measures (PROMs) and Patient Reported Experience Measures (PREMs) to assess the perspective of chronically ill patients. Thereby, the project aims to identify potential shortcomings of the current care provided to patients with chronic diseases (asthma, COPD, diabetes type 1 and 2 and coronary heart disease) and potentially low responsiveness on a health system level. Participating patients fill out PROMs and PREMs regularly digitally during the course of the study. Based on this information, linked with routine data, the projects overall aim is to improve the care of patients with chronic diseases and evaluate the acceptance and potential changes in behavior of patients when they receive PRO-Feedback (Nudging). Partners of this project are the health insurance Barmer, OnCare GmbH and the Aqua-Institut.

The specific job tasks include the following primary duties
  • Project management and regular exchange with partners
  • Quantitative data analysis, esp. hospital data and health care data
  • Qualitative content analyses of patient feedback
  • Literature research on the topic of PROMs / PREMs use in patient groups with chronic diseases
  • Preparation of scientific publications by processing the project results

Requirements:

  • Successfully completed university degree (state examination, Master, Diplom or equivalent) in a discipline relevant to the project, e.g. in medicine, health economics, public health, health sciences, is required
  • A high degree of organisational and communication skills; ability to work in a team; high flexibility, ability to work under pressure and to act independently and on one's responsibility is required
  • Knowledge of the structure and actors of the German health care system is expected
  • Knowledge and experience working with healthcare data (PROMs or hospital routine data) are a requirement
  • Advanced knowledge of statistical methods, econometrics and the use of one of the common statistical programs (preferably R or Stata), as well as the intention to improve these are required
  • Excellent command of the German and English language is required.
Additional abilities considered an asset:
  • Experience in the areas of digital health applications and value-based healthcare are a plus
  • Experience in writing scientific publications is considered an asset.
  • Experience with qualitative and quantitative health service research is desirable.
