The TU Dres­den is one of ele­ven Ger­man uni­ver­si­ties that were iden­ti­fied as an “excel­lence uni­ver­sity”. TUD has about 36.500 stu­dents and almost 5319 employees, 507 pro­fes­sors among them, and, thus, is the lar­gest uni­ver­sity in Sax­ony, today.

Having been com­mit­ted to sci­en­ces and the engi­nee­ring before the reuni­fi­ca­tion of Ger­many, TU Dres­den now is a multi-disci­pline uni­ver­sity, also offe­ring huma­nities and social sci­en­ces as well as medi­cine.

The CMCB is a cen­tral aca­de­mic unit of the TU Dres­den and is com­po­sed of the insti­tu­tes BIO­TEC (Bio­tech­no­lo­gi­cal Cen­ter), B CUBE (Cen­ter for Mole­cu­lar Bio­en­gi­nee­ring) and CRTD (Cen­ter for Rege­ne­ra­tive The­ra­pies Dres­den). The aim of the CMCB is to create syn­er­gies bet­ween these insti­tu­tes in order to fur­ther streng­t­hen the inter­na­tio­nally ori­en­ted cut­ting-edge rese­arch and inno­va­tive tea­ching pro­gramme. The CMCB rese­arch groups are sup­por­ted by cen­tral ser­vice units, which also act as an inter­sec­tion to the cen­tral admi­nis­tra­tion of the TU Dres­den. The IT envi­ron­ment of the CMCB is set up and ope­ra­ted jointly with the IT of the Clus­ter of Excel­lence “Phy­sics of Life” (PoL).

Working field:

In this posi­tion, you would be invol­ved in the design, deve­lop­ment and rea­li­za­tion of the setup as well as fur­ther deve­lop­ment and ope­ra­tion of the modern IT infra­st­ruc­ture with a focus on the inte­gra­tion into the cen­tral IT envi­ron­ment of the TU Dres­den. You will update and ensure the con­ti­nua­tion of the docu­men­ta­tion of all sys­tems and pro­vide IT-spe­ci­fic sup­port as well as coor­di­na­tion of the IT-spe­ci­fic deve­lop­ment of the indi­vi­dual work groups and faci­li­ties as well as inde­pen­dent user sup­port in case of tech­ni­cal pro­blems. Inde­pen­dent tech­ni­cal con­sul­ting and sup­port of the work groups and faci­li­ties in case of invest­ments in the area of hard­ware and soft­ware; plan­ning, manage­ment and imple­men­ta­tion of rela­ted pro­jects; close ope­ra­tion with the sys­tem admi­nis­tra­tors in the IT team of the CMCB and the ZIH of the TU Dres­den are also part of your tasks.

Requirements:

Degree from a hig­her edu­ca­tion insti­tu­tion in an IT-rela­ted sub­ject or com­pa­ra­ble know­ledge and skills, com­bi­ned with several years of pro­fes­sio­nal expe­ri­ence in a simi­lar envi­ron­ment. Good to very good know­ledge in the fol­lo­wing areas: Admi­nis­tra­tion of Linux ser­vers and cli­ents (dis­tri­bu­ti­ons: Ubuntu, Debian, Red­Hat); Imple­men­ta­tion, ope­ra­tion and manage­ment of ser­ver ser­vices (web ser­ver, data­base ser­ver, Linux HP clus­ter); Soft­ware instal­la­tion (ope­ra­ting sys­tems and app­li­ca­ti­ons) and scrip­ting for auto­ma­ted soft­ware dis­tri­bu­tion; Pro­gramming expe­ri­ence in Perl, Shell-Script, PHP; Expe­ri­ence with CMS edi­t­ing sys­tems such as TYPO3, Word­Press and RDBMS sys­tems (MySQL/MariaDB). You are asser­tive and a good com­mu­ni­ca­tor, have orga­ni­za­tio­nal skills and a strong abi­lity to work in a team. You are enthu­si­astic about new tasks, seek chal­len­ges and are wil­ling to fami­lia­rize yours­elf with new assign­ments and pro­jects quickly. You think ana­ly­ti­cally and are open to new ideas. A con­fi­dent man­ner, a goal-ori­en­ted and sys­te­ma­tic approach to work and the abi­lity to con­vince in per­so­nal con­ver­sa­ti­ons are part of your per­so­na­lity. Flu­ency in writ­ten and spo­ken Eng­lish is requi­red.
