Technische Universität Dresden - Faculty of Mathematics, Institute of Mathematical Stochastics
Technische Universität Dresden as a University of Excellence is one of the leading universities in Germany, and is ranked among the 100 most innovative universities worldwide. Its distinguishing feature is a strong focus on research as well as its diversified offer of more than 120 degree programs in Engineering Sciences, Natural Sciences, Humanities & Social Sciences and Medicine.
Working field:
The successful candidate is required to conduct research on the DFG-funded project “Lévy-driven Ornstein-Uhlenbeck processes in infinite dimensions”. The position is within the international collaboration transCampus (
http://transcampus.eu) between Technische Universität Dresden and King’s College London. Working within this framework provides the candidate with an international training and a tandem supervision by Professor Anita Behme (TU Dresden) and Professor Markus Riedle (King’s College London) that will foster internationally competitive research.
A stay of 15 months at King's College London is planned as part of the contract period (can be divided into 2 to 3 periods if necessary). The candidate will profit from establishing contacts and gaining insights into structures and processes at both locations, while improving their language skills.
This research project aims at a better understanding of dynamical systems driven by cylindrical Lévy processes. The key aspect lies in establishing qualitative properties of the solution, such as regularity of trajectories, strong Feller property, stationarity, ergodicity, etc., some of which being closely related to analytical properties of the associated transition semigroup. It is expected that the results will enable the modelling and understanding of a wider range of applications which require a random perturbation by a highly irregular noise.
Requirements:
university degree in mathematics, preferably with a focus in probability theory or analysis.
