Working field:
The Remote Sensing Image Analysis (RSiM) Group seeks to hire a Research Associate to conduct research and development in the field of explainable machine learning for Earth observation.
The goals are:
1) the development of robust and interpretable machine learning models by incorporating prior knowledge from the application domain on Earth observation;
2) advancement of methods to interpret and explain the predictions of deep neural networks for various Earth observation applications.
Furthermore, the candidate is expected to publish/present the achieved research results.

Requirements:
- Successfully completed university degree (Master, Diplom or equivalent) in computer science, engineering or mathematics.
- Knowledge on methods and theory of machine learning, deep neural networks, explanation methods, interpretable models.
- Excellent programming skills (e.g., python) with experience using deep learning libraries.
- Excellent English oral and written communication skills; good command of German is required; willingness to acquire lacking skills in either language.
