Air Pro­file GmbH is a seven-year-old start-up in the field of renew­able ener­gies. We have star­ted to set new stand­ards wit­hin remote meas­ure­ment tech­no­logy.

LiDAR sys­tems meas­ure with the help of laser beams. With a diverse team from a wide range of dis­cip­lines, we have deve­lo­ped a glob­ally uni­que LiDAR method for pre­cise wind meas­ure­ment up to a height of 300m. The method has been pat­en­ted since March 2021. Inter­na­tion­al­isa­tion is in full swing.
We went pub­lic with our vis­ion and the immense poten­tial of the tech­no­logy for wind energy and other indus­tries sev­eral years ago. Numer­ous natio­nal and inter­na­tio­nal awards attest to the innov­at­ive char­ac­ter of our devel­op­ment work. Import­ant mar­ket play­ers already rate our solu­tion as an out­stand­ing devel­op­ment for the future of glo­bal wind energy.
Pre­cise meas­ure­ment data are tre­mend­ously import­ant for the glo­bal wind and wea­ther mar­ket and make an act­ive con­tri­bu­tion to the energy trans­ition. We want you to be part of the devel­op­ment team because we have a lot plan­ned for the com­ing years. The mar­ket launch of our first pro­duct is sched­uled for 2023. In 2024 and 2025, we plan to use the tech­no­logy for fur­ther pro­ducts to, for example, improve early warn­ing sys­tems for dis­asters (forest fires, tor­nadoes, etc.), make avi­ation safer (heli­cop­ter and air­port mon­it­or­ing), make build­ings smar­ter and enable urban auto­nom­ous air traf­fic.

Devel­op­ment Engin­eer for LiDAR Sen­sors

Remote Sens­ing Sci­ent­ist - Wind LiDAR

Working field:

We are cur­rently look­ing for a Remote Sens­ing Sci­ent­ist with exper­i­ence work­ing with atmo­sphe­ric remote sens­ing LiD­ARs or sim­ilar sys­tems to join our team of young engin­eers and indus­try pro­fes­sion­als, which is tas­ked with driv­ing innov­a­tion wit­hin the wind energy sec­tor.
The Remote Sens­ing Sci­ent­ist - Wind LiDAR is respons­ible for the devel­op­ment, main­ten­ance, veri­fic­a­tion, val­id­a­tion, and mon­it­or­ing of pro­ducts rela­ted to our pat­en­ted Wind LiDAR.

Main tasks:
  • Par­ti­cip­a­tion in the design of com­plex laser sys­tems and opto-mech­an­ical instru­ments.
  • Inde­pend­ent assump­tion of design work wit­hin the ent­ire design cycle rese­arch & devel­op­ment area.
  • Par­ti­cip­a­tion in or tech­nical man­age­ment of innov­at­ive fund­ing pro­jects for Green­Tech.

Sec­ond­ary tasks:
  • Devel­op­ment of advan­ced LiDAR algo­rithms and app­lic­a­tions.
  • Devel­op­ment of sci­ent­i­fic app­lic­a­tion soft­ware and ana­lysis tools.
  • Cost and func­tion optim­isa­tion of exist­ing pro­ducts wit­hin improve­ment pro­jects as well as pro­duct main­ten­ance and change man­age­ment.
  • Close coo­per­a­tion and coor­din­a­tion with col­leagues from the fields of design, phys­ics, elec­tron­ics, pro­duc­tion, pro­duct man­age­ment and pur­chas­ing.


Field of Study & Edu­ca­tional Qual­i­fic­a­tion
  • Com­pleted sci­entific uni­versity stud­ies with a dip­loma or mas­ter's degree in photon­ics / optics / phys­ics / elec­trical engin­eer­ing / remote sens­ing phys­ics or a related field.

Expert­ise (Must Haves)
  • Know­ledge of phys­ics in the field of atmo­spheric remote sens­ing, work­ing exper­i­ence with LiDAR sys­tems is an advant­age.
  • Strong exper­i­ence in exper­i­mental research in two or more of the fol­low­ing areas: met­ro­logy, LiDAR, optical sig­nal pro­cessing, advanced ima­ging tech­niques, opto-mech­an­ics, optics or laser tech­no­logy.
  • Know­ledge and exper­i­ence in set­ting up and hand­ling com­plex opto-elec­tronic meas­ure­ment setups.
  • Exper­i­ence in sci­entific and tech­nical writ­ing or oral com­mu­nic­a­tion of research res­ults.

Expert­ise (Nice-2-Haves)
  • Exper­i­ence in con­duct­ing prac­tical exper­i­mental research, includ­ing know­ledge of elec­tron­ics and optics.
  • Suc­cess­fully com­pleted and doc­u­mented research or devel­op­ment pro­jects.
  • Abil­ity to act­ively and sig­ni­fic­antly con­trib­ute to the devel­op­ment of an innov­at­ive and extern­ally fun­ded research or devel­op­ment pro­gramme.
  • Exper­i­ence work­ing with tech­nical and exper­i­mental com­puter soft­ware (e.g. MAT­LAB, C++, Python or Java).
  • Expert­ise in data ana­lysis and algorithm devel­op­ment in Python or MAT­LAB, C, C++, Java.
  • Prac­tical exper­i­ence in optical design (Zemax, Code V or Light­Trans) is an advant­age.
  • Sci­entific pub­lic­a­tions in peer-reviewed journ­als, pat­ents or present­a­tions at tech­nical con­fer­ences.
