The world’s energy systems are changing. Renewable energy has moved from a niche technology to broad-scale adoption in many countries around the globe. Policy makers in many countries are struggling with the technical, economic, and political complexities of the transformation. Understanding these processes and challenges is essential for taking political decisions and ensuring a smooth transition to a clean energy system.
This is where Agora Energiewende helps: we develop evidence-based strategies for ensuring the success of the clean energy transitions in Europe and around the globe. As an independent and non-partisan think tank we share cutting edge, policy-relevant research knowledge with stakeholders in the worlds of politics, business, academia, and NGOs.
Agora Energiewende has been implementing training programmes since 2018. Participants can learn directly from our experts and one another during a six-week residential fellowship in Berlin, virtual or in-person study tours, or through specialised online courses in collaboration with our partners. Our training programmes help energy transition professionals gain a deeper understanding of energy economics, energy policy, and the transformation of power systems.

Student Assistant, Energy Transitions Training Programme (m/f/d)

Working field:

  • Assisting in the organisation and implementation of the project, incl. site visits, bookings, scheduling (office, hotels, insurance, catering, restaurants, transportation, etc.).
  • Arranging and coordinating general administrative tasks such as daily email and diary management, handling invoices and documents, planning and booking travels as well as visa matters;
  • Scheduling and organisation, preparation and follow-up of external and internal meetings;
  • Preparing and reviewing documents and surveys for participants and presenters (before, during and after trainings);
  • Support with the implementation of online and offline elements of the training programme activities including meeting organisation and (occasionally) facilitation;
  • Supporting and facilitating internal collaboration with colleagues from our Berlin, Beijing, Bangkok, and Brussels offices;
  • Supporting activities for our global alumni community including an annual in-person alumni event;
  • Alumni newsletter and database management in Typo3.

Requirements:

Below are the skills and experience we’re looking for. Please consider this as a menu, not a list of requirements. We are looking for demonstrable experience in at least some of these, and evidence of capacity to build skills in other areas.
  • A creative, proactive, and collaborative team player;
  • Experience in (virtual & in-person) event and community management and a successful track record in a similar position;
  • Intercultural sensitivity, cognitive empathy, and experience working in multicultural environments;
  • Very strong communication, administrative and organisational skills;
  • Dedication, reliability, attention to detail and a strong intellect;
  • English and German language, both written and spoken.
