Working field:

Research and teaching in the field of working worlds`digitalization with focus on the sociology of work, organizational sociology, and economic sociology. At the Chair, we examine in particular how the working world is being transformed by digital technology and how it is generally embedded in institutions. To this end, we use comparative analyses, alternative data sources and innovative analytical methods. This position offers the postholder the possibility to pursue a doctorate.

Requirements:

  • successfully completed university degree (Diploma, Master or equivalent) in sociology or a similar discipline, preferably with honors ("Prädikatsexamen")
  • excellent knowledge in several of the Chair´s research fields, especially sociology of work, organizational sociology, and economic sociology, as we as digital methods
  • excellent knowledge and skills in methods of empirical social research
  • excellent knowledge of the R statistics software (or comparable software)
  • knowledge and experience in working with complex data sets (e.g. time series, planel data, georeferenced data, text data)
  • proactive work ethic, flexibility and abiltiy to grasp new concepts quickly
  • teamwork skills
  • fluent written and spoken German and English; sufficient language proficiency to teach classes in both German and English is expected

Experience and knowledge in the following areas is desired:
  • teaching experience and initial publications
  • good writing skills
