W3 Professorship for “Special Needs Education in Language and Communication”

Working field:

The future holder of the position should represent the field in its entire breadth and teach special education/rehabilitation education in the teaching-related and extracurricular Bachelor's and Master's degree programmes.

The applicant should have a research focus in at least two of the following areas:

  • Language development in the context of linguistic diversity
  • Diagnostics of verbal language and/or written language skills
  • Promotion and/or acquisition of written language in the case of impairments
  • Promotion and/or therapy of language and communication in the case of impairments
  • Participation in the context of speech, language and communication needs
  • Professionalisation in the context of speech, language and communication needs

At least one of these foci must be related to Special Needs Education in Language and Communication (preferably school-related).

Requirements:

The profile of rehabilitation sciences at Humboldt-Universität includes a particularly complex structure across disciplinary and subject boundaries (education, sociology, psychology, linguistics, etc.) and research approaches. Regardless of specialisations, the ability to cooperate across thematic, paradigmatic and methodological boundaries is expected.

Experience in international research cooperation is desirable. Willingness to work in the Interdisciplinary Competence Centre for Rehabilitation Sciences at Humboldt University is also desired.
Applicants must meet the legal requirements for professorial appointments in accordance with § 100 of the “Berliner Hochschulgesetz”.
