Research Assistant - salary grade E13 TV-L Berliner Hochschulen - 1st qualification period (PhD candidate)

Working field:

  • teaching and technical-economic research in the field of logistics and supply chain management, with a focus on the holistic design and planning of logistics systems (includes production, trade, transport and international procurement logistics as well as information and communication technologies for mapping logistics processes)
  • independent implementation of practical case studies, system planning and research projects in cooperation with companies and institutions
  • establishment and further development of international and inter-university cooperation
  • responsibility for the Chair and the logistics laboratory as well as for the specialization "Logistics" in the course of studies Industrial Engineering and Management, for which the Logistics Department is responsible
  • supervision of scientific theses
  • in particular, research work in the research project "Digital Simulation Tool for the Development of the Lausitz Mining Area into an International Logistics Hub Lausitz" (DiSTILL)
  • collaboration in an innovative project to support structural change
  • analysis of a transport network, incl. infrastructure and freight transport demand

Requirements:

  • successfully completed university degree (Diploma, Master or equivalent) with equivalent study content as in the courses of industrial engineering, business administration or business informatics
  • in-depth knowledge of logistics management and technologies as well as transport logistics
  • advanced skills in supply chain analytics, logistics systems simulation, and transportation network analysis and evaluation
  • advanced skills in pedagogy and didactics, as well as in research
  • business fluent German and English language skills (spoken and written); sufficient language proficiency to teach classes in both German and English is expected

desirable knowledge:
  • experience in project management
  • practical experience in the industry and/or in the university sector
  • Experience abroad in a university or business environment
  • high level of motivation and ability to work in a team
