The AG Kintscher is working on the relevance of lipolysis for heart disease aiming to develop new therapies for chronic heart failure. We are an AG in the Institute of Pharmacology at Campus Mitte and part of the Center for Cardiovascular Research (CCR). The work in this project is part of a collaboration with the Einstein BIH Visiting Fellow Prof. Dr. Rudolf Zechner. Prof. Zechner is a highly respected scientist in the field of lipolysis. Project supervision will be ensured by Prof. Ulrich Kintscher and Prof. Zechner. The project investigates the importance of adipose triglyceride lipase (ATGL) in endothelial cells for the development of chronic heart failure. Our laboratory is located on Campus Mitte in the CCR at Hessische Str. 3-4, 10115 Berlin.
We are looking for a highly motivated postdoctoral scientist for an exciting project funded by the Einstein Foundation Berlin. The project is part of a collaboration within the Einstein BIH Visiting Fellow Program between Prof. Rudolf Zechner from Graz, Austria, and Prof. Ulrich Kintscher from the Charité. The work is supervised by both professors and carried out at the Insititute for Pharmacology of the Charité am Campus Mitte. In this project, we want to demonstrate that ATGL-mediated lipolysis in endothelial cells has a significant influence on the development of heart failure. For this purpose, animal experiments, cell biology and molecular biology experiments are carried out.
The scope of this project includes animal studies using models of cardiac failure including comprehensive echocardiographic and micro CT-based imaging and invasive hemodynamics. In addition, cell and tissue biological analyzes of angiogenesis and endothelial growth are performed. One focus is on metabolic processes in endothelial cells including the study of mitochondrial function of endothelial cells.
