The main goal of the “Ima­ging, Sim­u­la­tion & Stim­u­la­tion“ labor­at­ory is to com­bine state-of-the-art quant­it­at­ive ima­ging with numer­ical mod­el­ling to assess the bio­mech­an­ical com­pet­ence of mus­cu­lo­skeletal tis­sues under nor­mal, patho­lo­gical, and heal­ing con­di­tions and to util­ize the elastic inter­ac­tion of waves with mat­ter to stim­u­late heal­ing. The work­ing group "Ima­ging, Sim­u­la­tion & Stim­u­la­tion" is headed by Prof. Kay Raum.
The spin-off por­oUS GmbH was foun­ded in 2021 with the goal of com­mer­cial­ising a product that will revo­lu­tion­ize osteo­porosis dia­gnostics world­wide. By using quant­it­at­ive ultra­sound ima­ging of bone (QUSIB), por­oUS is able to meas­ure the qual­ity of cor­tical bone down to the micro­scopic pore level without ion­iz­ing radi­ation risks. At the begin­ning you will join the research group of the Char­ité and trans­ition into the start-up in the near future.


C++. Mat­lab, SQL, par­al­lel & CUDA, hard­ware and sig­nal pro­cessing pro­gram­ming for med­ical ultra­sound tech­no­lo­gies

Work­ing field:

We are look­ing for a highly skilled Com­puter Engin­eer who is com­fort­able with writ­ing C++. Mat­lab code, cre­ated for research pur­poses, needs to be improved and rewrit­ten into pro­fes­sional C++ code. The code must be con­ver­ted into object-ori­ented struc­tures and the pro­cesses need to be par­al­lel­ized or trans­ferred to a GPU pro­cessing.
Other top­ics are the imple­ment­a­tion of a new ultra­sound meas­ure­ment meth­ods, hard­ware pro­gram­ming, optim­iz­a­tion of data acquis­i­tion, real-time image recon­struc­tion, data pro­cessing by par­al­lel and GPU sup­por­ted meth­ods and cloud-based data ana­lysis.
Optim­ally, you already have exper­i­ence in the med­ical sec­tor and are famil­iar with the typ­ical reg­u­lar­it­ies. If you thrive in an ener­getic envir­on­ment and are pas­sion­ate about empower­ing the small busi­ness owner, we’d love to meet you!


  • Com­pleted uni­versity degree in the field of inform­a­tion tech­no­logy/com­puter sci­ence (or another com­par­able dis­cip­line in com­bin­a­tion with com­pre­hens­ive know­ledge of com­puter sci­ence)
  • Proven work­ing exper­i­ence in soft­ware engin­eer­ing
  • Com­pre­hens­ive pro­gram­ming know­ledge in high-level lan­guages (prefer­ably C/C++) on Linux und Win­dows plat­forms
  • Exper­i­ence in the use of RAD tools such as MAT­LAB
  • Proven exper­i­ence in embed­ded sys­tems design with real-time applic­a­tions
  • Pro­fi­ciency with Git
