Im Her­zen der Lau­sitz ver­bin­det die BTU her­aus­ra­gende inter­na­tio­nale For­schung mit zukunfts­ori­en­tier­ter Lehre. Sie leis­tet mit Wis­sens-, Tech­no­lo­gie­trans­fer und Wei­ter­bil­dung einen wich­ti­gen Bei­trag für Gesell­schaft, Kul­tur und Wirt­schaft. Als Tech­ni­sche Uni­ver­si­tät bie­tet die BTU ein bun­des­weit ein­zig­ar­ti­ges Lehr­kon­zept: Bei uns kön­nen Stu­di­en­gänge uni­ver­si­tär, fach­hoch­schu­lisch und dual stu­diert wer­den.

Pro­fess­or­ship (W3) in Ana­lysis

Working field:

The suc­cess­ful can­did­ate is expec­ted to act­ively con­trib­ute to the research in Optim­isa­tion and Numer­ics at the Insti­tute of Math­em­at­ics and to be open towards col­lab­or­a­tions with other researcher from sci­ence, engin­eer­ing or eco­nom­ics at the BTU. Applic­a­tions that are address­ing the fields of research at the BTU are par­tic­u­larly wel­come. Can­did­ates should have a strong port­fo­lio of rel­ev­ant under­gradu­ate and gradu­ate teach­ing where the appointee will take respons­ib­il­ity for the cur­ricula in ana­lysis, func­tional ana­lysis and par­tial dif­fer­en­tial equa­tions. Con­tri­bu­tion to the teach­ing in other areas of stud­ies is expec­ted. Lec­tures are primar­ily to be held in Ger­man, flu­ency in Eng­lish is expec­ted.
Other duties res­ult from the require­ments set by § 42 Branden­bur­gisches Hoch­schul­ge­setz (Higher Edu­ca­tion Act of the State of Branden­burg - BbgHG) in con­junc­tion with § 3 BbgHG.

Requirements:

The appointee will be expec­ted to sus­tain a lead­ing research pro­gramme, and to be act­ive in devel­op­ing and sub­mit­ting com­pet­it­ive applic­a­tions for external fund­ing. The suc­cess­ful applic­ant will have an out­stand­ing track record of inde­pend­ent research of inter­na­tional stand­ing in the ana­lysis of par­tial dif­fer­en­tial equa­tions, for example in the dir­ec­tion of non­lin­ear par­tial dif­fer­en­tial equa­tions, cal­cu­lus of vari­ations, or evol­u­tion equa­tions.
Exper­i­ence in the acquis­i­tion and real­isa­tion of third-party fun­ded pro­jects is expec­ted. Fields of research should be rel­ev­ant for the DFG (Ger­man Research Found­a­tion) or sim­ilar inter­na­tional research fund­ing organ­isa­tions.
