Die Mis­sion des Leib­niz-Zen­trums für Agrar­land­schafts­for­schung (ZALF) e. V. als natio­nal und inter­na­tio­nal agie­ren­des For­schungs­zen­trum ist es, an der öko­no­misch, öko­lo­gisch und sozial nach­hal­ti­gen Land­wirt­schaft der Zukunft zu for­schen – gemein­sam mit Akteu­ren aus der Wis­sen­schaft, Poli­tik und Pra­xis. Das ZALF ist Mit­glied der Leib­niz-Gemein­schaft und unter­hält neben dem Haupt­stand­ort in Mün­che­berg (ca. 35 Minu­ten mit der Regio­nal­bahn von Ber­lin-Lich­ten­berg) eine For­schungs­sta­tion mit wei­te­ren Stand­or­ten in Dede­low sowie Pau­li­nen­aue.

Postdoc­torial Pos­i­tion in Agri­cul­tural Eco­nom­ics (f/m/d)

Working field:

We are offer­ing a full-time postdoc pos­i­tion at our loc­a­tion in Müncheberg to strengthen the research group „Farm eco­nom­ics and eco­sys­tem ser­vices“ in pro­ject related works. The work­ing group con­sists cur­rently of 5 senior research­ers, a num­ber of PhDs and one pro­gram­ming expert. One focus of the group is on devel­op­ment and applic­a­tion of a bio-eco­nomic, farm level mod­el­ling approach to ana­lyse novel tech­no­lo­gies, man­age­ment options and policy instru­ments regard­ing their impact on farm eco­nom­ics, eco­sys­tem ser­vices and biod­iversity. The suc­cess­ful can­did­ate has an excel­lent meth­od­o­lo­gical know­ledge and will enforce the research group in the con­text of model devel­op­ment, case study work and report­ing in peer reviewed sci­entific papers.

  • con­trib­ute to the the­or­et­ical back­ground and con­cep­tu­al­iz­a­tion of work in dif­fer­ent case study regions.
  • if neces­sary, develop mod­ules within the exist­ing mod­el­ling chain.
  • ana­lyse sec­ond­ary data and assist with policy work­shops.
  • inter­act with stake­hold­ers, from farm­ers to policy makers.
  • col­lab­or­ate with sci­ent­ists from other dis­cip­lines e.g. in con­duct­ing eco­lo­gical assess­ments.
  • sup­port the research team in con­duct­ing case stud­ies and pub­lish­ing the work in lead­ing journ­als.


  • doc­toral degree in agri­cul­tural or busi­ness eco­nom­ics or related dis­cip­line
  • solid skills in optim­iz­a­tion meth­ods, data­base tech­niques and soft­ware lan­guages such as GAMS
  • good know­ledge of agri­cul­tural tech­no­lo­gies and agri-envir­on­mental policies
  • abil­ity to work in an inter­dis­cip­lin­ary team as well as inde­pend­ently
  • strong interest in sci­entific writ­ing and excel­lent com­mand of Eng­lish
  • flu­ency in Ger­man is a clear plus
