The project SALSAT (Spectrum AnaLysis SATellite) developes a nanosatellite for in-orbit spectrum analysis of different communication bands. The satellite features three scientific payloads. The primary payload features a prevoiusly developed and space qualified spectrum analyzer. The device is based on Software Defined Radio technology. The payload shall be utilized for the first time on the SALSAT mission. The goal is to analyze communication frequencies in the UHF, VHF and S band and detect potential interferences. The secondary payloads are a camera in the visual spectrum as well as an novel actuator for attitude control. The software developer searched for in this job opening shall adapt the existing software (sub-)systems of the TUBiX10 bus satellite (developed at the TU Berlin) for the SALSAT mission. Software components of existing subsystems have to be adapted. Furthermore, new software for SALSAT specific subsystems and features has to be developed. After the successfull launch of SALSAT (planned Q1/2020) a commissioning and operation phase is planned.

development, production and test of software components for satellite and ground segment
o development of (e.g.) program flow charts and timing diagrams
o development of firmware for micro controllers and gateware for FPGAs in C and VHDL
o programming of graphical user interfaces and data bases (e.g. QT, SQL, VB, C#)
o setup and maintenance of data bases (e.g. PartKeepr, MS Exchange)
o functional test of the developed software subsystems
development and test of firmware for SALSAT on system- and subsystem level
verification and test of the satellite on component- and (sub-)system level
successfully completed university degree (Master, Diplom or equivalent) in aerospace technology, informatics, technical informatics, electrical engineering or similar
in-depth knowledge in the field of der hardware-related software development / programming
excellent skills in the programming language C and programming of micro controllers
high motivation, proactive and independent approach to work
excellent German and/or English skills
experiences in programming of FPGAs in VHDL (e.g. Intel Cyclone IV)
experiences with the software suites openSTM32, Intel Quartus Prime, or Eclipse
experiences in object-oriented programming in Matlab or C
skills in the field of signal processing (FPGAs, micro controller, filter, FFT,…)
skills in electronics (e.g. creating schematics)
experiences in space projects, satellite technology or satellite communication
