The applicant will work on a research project with partners from both, academia and industry. The project focuses software-defined networks, especially 5G.
Develop new mechanisms to monitor and evaluate the Quality of Experience (QoE) of the users of a wide range of services delivered via the Internet
Evaluate the performance of different network control strategies to enhance QoE
Successfully completed university degree (Master, Diplom or equivalent) in Computer Science (or similar) with a focus on Internet technologies is required
Fundamental knowledge in Software-Defined Networking, especially 5G is required
Comprehensive skills and experience with the network simulator OmNET++ and the frameworks INET and SimuLTE are required
Fundamental knowledge of the concepts QoE and QoE-aware networking is required
Deep understanding of the principles behind HTTP adaptive video streaming is required
Good Unix skills and experience with C++ and scripting languages such as Python are required
Good knowledge of German and English (oral and written) is required
Structured and independent way of working is required
Willingness to take responsibility for subtasks is required
Ability to work in a team, willingness to document and publish project (partial) results are required
Experiences with web technologies, Machine learning and Mininet are a plus
