interface is looking for a student assistant in the fundraising team (m/f/d)

interface is an independent European think tank at the intersection of technology and society. We aim to democratise knowledge about technologies to advance tech policy in the public interest in Germany, Europe and beyond.?

Across five programme areas – Artificial Intelligence, Cybersecurity Policy and Resilience, Digital Rights, Surveillance and Democracy, Digital Public Sphere and Platform Regulation and Global Chip Dynamics, we produce expertise and analyse, develop policy recommendations and inform the political and public debate.

We are uncompromisingly independent and have intentionally diversified our portfolio of funders to help us ensure we can work in line with our values.

To support our fundraising , we are seeking a student assistant (m/f/d) from January 2026 (12 hours/week). This position offers the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in non-profit fundraising, with a particular focus on grant fundraising from foundations and government institutions. The ideal candidate is a highly motivated and proactive team player who can work independently and is eager to learn.

Your responsibilities will include:

Research

  • Research grant makers and create and maintain supporter profiles on interface’s fundraising database

  • Monitor grant databases for relevant calls for proposals and create call overviews of relevant calls

  • Support due diligence by creating in-depth profiles on grant-makers and other funders

Database Maintenance

  • Update records on interface’s fundraising database

  • Support data collection for internal and external reports

  • Run regular database queries to support reporting and supporter communications.

Copy-Editing and Presentations

  • Copy-edit and proofread fundraising documents

  • Collate fundraising decks based on existing resources

  • Update fundraising materials such as slide decks and Canva presentations with up-to-date data e.g. from impact reports.

  • Support the creation of new fundraising materials

Information Management
Support the documentation of fundraising-related processes on the internal knowledge platform (Knowledge Base)

  • In particular, support the creation of How to guidance and process documentation for interface’s Fundraising Database.

Tools you will use during your work

  • MS Office (Word, Powerpoint, Excel, Outlook)

  • SeaTable

  • Virtual Whiteboard Software (Mural, Miro etc)

  • Graphic Design Software (e.g. Canva)

Requirements:

Your profile:

Required

  • You are currently enrolled at a university or university of applied sciences – ideally for one to two years – we welcome all fields of study.

  • You live in Germany and you are officially registered as a resident there.

  • You are open to work in a remote team.

  • You have excellent command of English and German and strong communication skills.

  • You have strong organisational and time management skills.

  • You have a proactive mindset and enthusiasm for diverse tasks.

  • You are interested in tech policy topics (e.g., platform regulation, digital rights, AI).

  • You can work independently while being an effective team player.

  • You have strong research skills and attention to detail.

Desirable

  • You have experience with or willingness to learn database management.

  • You have experience using MS Powerpoint and Graphic Design tools.

  • A salary of 754,-€/month for 12 hours/week

  • A monthly mobile office allowance of 20,- €/month

  • A student employment contract, which can be extended to a maximum of two years
