The mission of the Leibniz Centre for Agricultural Landscape Research (ZALF) as a nationally and internationally active research institute is to deliver solutions for an ecologically, economically and socially sustainable agriculture – together with society. ZALF is a member of the Leibniz Association and is located in Müncheberg (approx. 35 minutes by regional train from Berlin-Lichtenberg). The institute also maintains locations in Dedelow and Paulinenaue.

Student assistants (f/m/d) for pot and field experiments

The Ecosystem Modelling group is looking for a student assistant to support the under control and field experiments.

We are now offering a position for a period of 6 months for 40 hours/month at the Müncheberg location as Student assistants (f/m/d).

Tasks:

  • supporting PhD students in a wide range of management practices for pot and field experiments, including tasks such as weeding and weighing the pots
  • carrying plant samples from the field to the laboratory
  • supporting PhD students with crop measurements (e.g., leaf area index and biomass) in both field and pot experiments
  • processing field data in the requested format

Requirements:

  • enrolled student in a Bachelor's or Master's degree program, currently attending a German university, preferably in the field of life sciences
  • physical ability to carry packages weighing up to 10 kg (for field sampling) is required
  • independent, structured way of working and strong organizational skills
  • excellent written and spoken English skills required
  • experience with agricultural field work is desirable
  • very good knowledge of common software programs (especially Microsoft Office)
  • having a class B driving license is desirable
