Die Mission des Leibniz-Zentrums für Agrarlandschaftsforschung (ZALF) e. V. als national und international agierendes Forschungszentrum ist es, an der ökonomisch, ökologisch und sozial nachhaltigen Landwirtschaft der Zukunft zu forschen – gemeinsam mit Akteuren aus der Wissenschaft, Politik und Praxis. Das ZALF ist Mitglied der Leibniz-Gemeinschaft und unterhält neben dem Hauptstandort in Müncheberg (ca. 35 Minuten mit der Regionalbahn von Berlin-Lichtenberg) eine Forschungsstation mit weiteren Standorten in Dedelow sowie Paulinenaue.

The Dimensionality Reduction group is looking for a student assistant to support processing of long-term monitoring data from automatic continuous logging systems (climate, soil and groundwater physical data).

We are offering a position for a period of 6 months up to 80 hours/months at our location in Müncheberg as

Student assistant (f/m/d)

English

Tasks:

  • structuring data from a large variety of files and formats in different stages of processing
  • identifying redundant and outdated versions
  • performing initial plausibility and quality checks
  • preparing for upload to ZALF’s certified data repository

Requirements:

  • enrolled student in a bachelor’s or master’s degree program, currently attending a German university, preferably in the field of life sciences
  • independent, structured way of working and strong organizational skills
  • good knowledge of common software programs (especially Microsoft Office)
  • basic coding skills (Python, R, Matlab, or the like)
  • written and spoken German or English skills required
  • experience in processing large data sets and working with structured databases would be an asset
