reference code: Postdoctoral Researcher (m/f/d) - 100%
The postdoctoral position offers the opportunity to develop and conduct an independent research project that makes a substantial contribution to the research agenda of the Chair of Global Literature and Its Media with a Focus on Gender Studies at the Department of English Philology, Freie Universität Berlin.
The team at Global Literature and Its Media explores Anglophone literatures, cultures, and media from transhistorical, intersectional, and global perspectives, spanning the early modern period to the present and extending beyond Britain to literary and cultural formations shaped by empire, colonialism, migration, and global circulation. Key areas of research include the relationships between literature, empire, and coloniality; the economic, material, and medial conditions of literary production and circulation; and questions of embodiment, affect, gender, sexuality, citizenship, and belonging. The Chair is particularly interested in how literature and the arts engage with global political, legal, economic, and cultural regimes, and their affective inflections, while also generating forms of knowledge and imagining alternative modes of relationality and collective life.
